Live Scoring & Statistics Entry — GoClubPro
Training Module 102 | Entering Match Results, Player Stats, and Managing the Scoring Workflow
What This Guide Covers
Once a match is played, the result and player statistics need to be recorded. This module explains how to enter scores and match statistics in GoClubPro — who does it, when to do it, and how to make it accurate. It also covers how recorded stats feed into Standings (Module 60) and player profiles (Module 08), and what coaches and admins can see downstream.
Primary audience: Coach, Club Admin, Team Manager (data entry); Club Admin (result verification) See also: 60 Results & Standings · 61 Player Statistics · 08 Player Profile
SECTION 1: WHO ENTERS SCORES AND WHEN
The Scoring Responsibility
In GoClubPro, match results are entered by whoever holds the appropriate admin role — typically:
| Scenario | Who Enters the Result |
|---|---|
| Small club, no dedicated team manager | Club Admin or Coach |
| Club with a Team Manager per grade | Team Manager (if given Co-Admin or data entry access) |
| Association controls fixtures | Association Admin can push results; clubs can also enter independently |
When to enter:
- Best practice: Same day as the match, while details are fresh
- Deadline: Before the next selection meeting (typically mid-week)
- Why it matters: Late entry means the Standings table is inaccurate, and the coach can't reference statistics when selecting the next round's squad
Who Can Enter Match Results
To enter a result in GoClubPro, the user needs at minimum Coach or Co-Admin access. Plain "Player" role does not allow result entry.
If a club has a dedicated Team Manager who isn't on the committee:
- Give them Co-Admin access limited to their specific team
- Brief them on the data entry workflow (this module)
- They should NOT have access to club-wide finances or settings
SECTION 2: ENTERING A MATCH RESULT
Step-by-Step: Recording a Score
- Navigate to Schedule → find the completed fixture (look for "Played" status)
- Tap or click the fixture to open the match detail
- Tap Enter Result (or Edit Result if a result was already entered)
- Enter the score for your team and the opponent
- Optionally: mark the result as a Win / Loss / Draw (or let the system calculate from scores)
- Tap Save
The result immediately updates:
- The fixture status from "Scheduled" to "Completed"
- The team's record in Standings (W-L-D)
- The individual player match history on each selected player's profile
Entering Scores for Multiple Teams
If the club has multiple grades playing on the same day:
- Schedule shows all fixtures; enter results grade by grade
- Work through the list before end of day while scores are remembered
Shortcut: If results are recorded live by the scorer or Team Manager, the Club Admin can collect the final scores by text message and enter them that evening in a single sitting.
SECTION 3: PLAYER STATISTICS ENTRY
What Statistics Can Be Recorded
GoClubPro supports player-level statistics for each match. The available stats fields depend on sport configuration. Common fields across sports:
| Stat | Sport Context |
|---|---|
| Goals / points | AFL, football, basketball |
| Disposals / kicks / handballs | AFL |
| Best on ground / best players | All sports (admin selects) |
| Attendance (played vs. absent) | All sports |
| Injury noted | All sports |
Sport-specific stat configurations (cricket, netball, football) are covered in Modules 32, 35, and 47 respectively.
Step-by-Step: Entering Player Statistics
After entering the team score:
- In the match detail, scroll to the Player Statistics section
- For each player in the selected squad: enter their stats for the match
- Mark "Best on Ground" or "Best Players" if applicable
- If a player was a late withdrawal: update their squad status to Absent (this removes the match from their record)
- If a player was added as a late inclusion after the original squad was locked: add them to the match record first, then enter stats
- Save
Time-saving tip: Use Tab to move between stat entry fields quickly on desktop. On mobile, the numeric keyboard makes number entry fast.
Accuracy Matters for Player Profiles
Statistics entered here appear permanently on each player's profile (Module 08) under their career history. They are also used by the Fantasy League (Module 54) if it's enabled, and they feed into team and individual performance analytics.
Why get it right:
- Players take pride in their stats; errors cause frustration
- Fantasy League scores for the week are calculated from this data — late or inaccurate entry affects the leaderboard
- End-of-season statistics are used at Presentation Night for awards
SECTION 4: FIXING ENTRY ERRORS
Correcting a Wrong Score
- Schedule → completed fixture → Edit Result
- Update the score(s)
- Save — the Standings update automatically
No approval is required to correct an entered result. The change takes effect immediately.
Communication note: If the corrected result changes the Standings meaningfully (e.g., changes a W to a D), consider posting a brief Noticeboard note so the committee and players are aware.
Correcting Player Statistics
- Schedule → completed fixture → Player Statistics section → Edit
- Update the incorrect stat
- Save
If a player's profile shows an incorrect career total, it will automatically recalculate once the match-level stat is corrected.
Entering a Forfeited Match
If a team forfeited (either your club or the opponent):
- Enter the result as the association-prescribed forfeiture score (e.g., 0 for the forfeiting team)
- Add a note in the fixture Notes field: "Forfeiture — [reason]"
- No player statistics are entered for a forfeit game (no match was played)
- Contact association admin if the forfeit affects ladder points in a non-standard way
SECTION 5: STANDINGS — HOW THEY UPDATE
What Feeds the Standings Table
The Standings tab (Module 60) draws from match result entries to show:
- Played / Won / Lost / Drew (W-L-D record)
- Points for / Points against
- Percentage (where applicable by sport)
- Ladder position (calculated from points and percentage)
Results entered in GoClubPro update the club's own view of the ladder. The official association ladder is maintained by your league platform or SportsTG and is authoritative — discrepancies are possible if the association enters results differently.

SECTION 6: LIVE SCORING (MATCH-DAY ENTRY)
Can Results Be Entered Live During the Game?
Yes — Club Admins and Coaches can update scores during the match if they choose. This is useful for:
- Keeping the Noticeboard and Dashboard score banner current for members who aren't at the game
- Multi-game events (gala days, tournaments) where real-time results are valuable
Live scoring workflow:
- Assign a scorer (a Team Manager or parent with Co-Admin access) a device and brief them before the game
- They open the fixture in the app at game start
- As scores are kicked/scored, they update the running total
- After the final whistle: lock in the final score and immediately enter player statistics while details are fresh
Caution: Live score entry requires a reliable data connection. At grounds with poor signal, record scores on paper and enter post-game.

TOOLTIPS & HINTS
- Same day is best — enter results the same day as the match while scores are accurate in everyone's memory
- Tab between fields — fastest desktop data entry for multi-stat matches
- Late withdrawal — update their squad status to Absent before saving; this removes the match from their record
- Forfeiture score — enter the association-prescribed forfeiture score (e.g., 0-0 or 0 vs. walkover); check your association rules
- Fantasy League depends on stats — delayed or inaccurate stats affect the weekly leaderboard; enter before Monday
FAQ
Q: The league ladder shows a different result than what I entered. Which is correct? A: your league platform is the authoritative source for official competition standings. GoClubPro tracks your internal record. Discrepancies can happen if: (1) you entered the wrong score in GoClubPro — correct it; (2) your league platform updated with a corrected result — check your email for association updates. In all cases, your league platform wins for official ladder purposes.
Q: A player's career stats are wrong — their profile shows they played in a match they missed due to injury. A: Find the match in Schedule → Player Statistics → mark that player as Absent for the match. This removes it from their record. Check that their injury was also logged (Module 41) if it was a recorded injury.
Q: We forgot to enter results for the whole first half of the season. Can we backfill? A: Yes — there's no time lock on result entry. Go back through each fixture in Schedule and enter the results in chronological order. Standings will recalculate correctly. Player stats can also be backfilled, though accuracy may be lower for old matches.
Q: Can the opposing team see the stats I've entered for their players? A: No. Stat entries in GoClubPro are specific to your club's data. The opposing team manages their own records in their own platform.
COMMON MISTAKES
| Mistake | Consequence | Prevention |
|---|---|---|
| Entering the opponent's score as your score | Wrong W/L on standings; player stats misattributed | Double-check which score field is which before saving |
| Forgetting to enter stats after entering the score | Fantasy League uses default (zero) for the week; player profiles incomplete | Use a post-game checklist: Score → Stats → Save |
| Marking all players Present even for no-shows | Player profiles show false match history | Update squad to Absent for any player who didn't play |
| Entering result for the wrong fixture | Another match's record is corrupted | Confirm fixture date and opponent before entering |
| Never correcting an obvious entry error | Permanent inaccuracy in player career stats | Fix errors immediately when noticed — no approval needed |
SHORT ONBOARDING SCRIPT
"After each match, someone needs to enter the result in GoClubPro — best practice is the same day, but definitely before your midweek selection meeting. Go to Schedule, find the completed fixture, tap Enter Result, type the scores, save. Then enter player statistics for the match — goals, best players, and mark any absences. These stats feed Standings, player profiles, and Fantasy League, so accuracy matters. Errors are easy to fix: Edit Result any time. If you have a Team Manager entering stats for you, give them Co-Admin access and walk them through this workflow."
MICRO-TRAINING QUICK TIPS
- Schedule → completed fixture → Enter Result → score → Save
- Enter player stats immediately after: goals, best players, absences
- Same-day entry = accurate Fantasy League scores Monday morning
- Mark late withdrawals as Absent — removes the match from their profile
- Corrections: Edit Result any time; Standings recalculate automatically
- your league platform is authoritative for official ladder; GoClubPro tracks your internal record
